Sakuradamongai no Hen - The Sakuradamon Incident
Traducător: maman_12003 - Acţiunea filmului este centrată în jurul aşa-numitului „Incident Sakuradamon”, un moment foarte important pentru istoria Japoniei moderne. Incidentul în sine a avut loc pe 24 martie 1860 şi constat în asasinarea primului ministru japonez, Ii Naosuke, chiar la ieşirea acestuia din castelul Edo prin poarta Sakurada. Asasinatul a fost pus la cale de un grup de samurai ronini care proveneau de pe domeniul Mito iar motivul era strâns legat de decizia primului ministru de a deschide Japonia pentru comerţul cu ţările occidentale dar şi de modul despotic şi crud în care acesta înţelegea să suprime orice împotrivire, din partea oricui ar fi venit ea. Interesant în legătură cu acest incident e faptul că el a urmărit prezervarea valorilor tradiţionale japoneze prin refuzul deschiderii graniţelor Japoniei (această situaţie dura de peste 200 de ani) şi scăderea puterii Şogunatului în favoarea creşterii puterii Curţii Imperiale. Deşi consecinţa imediată a fost reprimarea nemiloasă de către Şogunat a oricărei opoziţii, pe termen mai lung incidentul s-a dovedit a fi începutul sfârşitului căci a făcut posibilă Restaurarea Meiji din 1868 şi naşterea Japoniei moderne.
