The Concubine
Traducător: autarhe_a - Într-o perioadă incertă, plasată undeva între sfârşitul erei Goryeo şi începutul Dinastiei Joseon, palatul regal este un loc aflat în permanentă fierbere. Pentru că regele nu are un moştenitor iar între el şi Regina Mamă nu există legături directe, de sânge, prin palat circulă zvonuri ciudate despre intenţiile acesteia. Având în vedere poziţia precară pe care o avea la palat o fostă concubină al cărei fiu nu a devenit rege, e de la sine înţeles că Regina Mamă se află în mijlocul intrigilor. Pentru a închide gura bârfitorilor, aceasta decide să-i găsească regelui o nouă concubină. Aflând că fiul ei, prinţul Seong-won, îşi pierde timpul cu vânătoarea şi prin casa ministrului Shin Cham-pan deoarece se îndrăgostise de fiica acestuia, Regina Mamă o alege pe Hwa-yeon pentru a fi concubina regelui. Dar tânăra nu acceptă ordinul regal şi fuge cu iubitul ei, Kwon-yoo, deşi era conştientă ce fel de viaţă o aşteaptă. Ministrul Shin îi găseşte repede pe cei doi îndrăgostiţi şi drept urmare Hwa-yeon intră la palat ca şi concubină regală iar Kwon-yoo scapă cu viaţă dar nu şi cu trupul intact. După cinci ani, o regăsim pe Hwa-yeon la palat… dar ca regină căci între timp îi dăruise regelui moştenitorul mult dorit. Regele însă e bolnav iar moartea lui o aruncă pe regină într-o situaţie disperată căci viaţa ei şi a micului prinţ mai atârnă doar de un fir de păr.
