O colecţie de întâmplări care în mod normal nu ar trebui să lipsească din patrimoniul său cultural niciunui popor de pe această planetă. De ce avem nevoie de poveşti cu fantome sau cu fiinţe fantastice sau despre fenomene atipice? Răspunsul poate fi simplu sau poate fi complicat, asta în funcţie de fiecare om în parte. Dacă ai citit 'O mie şi una de nopţi' e imposibil să nu-ţi rămână vreo urmă în suflet şi mai ales în imaginaţia ta. În memoria colectivă şi în conştiinţa universală au rămas întipărite personaje iubite, obiecte supranaturale sau replici legendare. Să ne aducem aminte de câteva personaje faimoase şi anume: Şeherezada cea frumoasă, de Aladin, de meşteşugarul Ali Baba sau de Sindbad marinarul. Lampa fermecată! Covorul zburător! Replica cea mai cunoscută e 'Sesam deschide-te!'. Aşadar există premisa ca aceste poveşti coreene cu fantome să îmbogăţească cu succes moştenirea noastră. Dacă în cinematografie s-a impus cuvântul hallyu, atunci e imposibil ca în terminologia fantastică universală să nu se afirme termenul de gumiho. Serialul debutează în forţă în luna august 2008 pe canalul KBS2 şi îi surprinde atât pe telespectatori cât şi pe critici cu profunzimea poveştilor. Stilul abordat e unul care să atragă, mai ales dacă ne gândim la Joseon X-Files care a fost plasat într-o perioadă iubită mult de coreeni şi apreciată de străini. Dinastia Joseon va rămâne un izvor nesecat de subiecte şi mai ales un decor preferat. Cine nu a rămas încântat de profunzimea civilizaţiei peninsulare? Care ochi a ignorat îmbrăcămintea oamenilor simpli? Sau robele regale? Dar hainele ceremoniale? Hanbok-ul a evoluat odată cu urcarea pe tron a unui nou rege şi a devenit până la urmă simbolul perfecţiunii în modă.
